Discover the soul of the High Atlas on our 4-day Atlas Mountains Mountain Biking Holiday. This meticulously crafted tour is designed for adventurous souls who want to leave the heat of Marrakech behind for the rugged, snow-capped peaks and vibrant Berber valleys of Morocco’s most iconic mountain range.
Traverse an unrivalled network of fast gravel off-roads, winding donkey tracks, and hidden singletracks. You will experience the dramatic shift from lush green irrigated fields to barren rocky slopes, visiting traditional Berber villages where stone houses cling picturesquely to the hillsides. Whether you are an intermediate rider seeking a technical rush or a fit beginner eager to explore, this expedition offers a profound immersion into a bygone era, backed by legendary hospitality and spectacular high-altitude vistas.
The Expedition Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Imi Oughlad – 1.5-hour transfer to the mountain hub of Imlil. Kick off with a climb to a panoramic viewpoint for mint tea, followed by an off-road descent through quiet villages and a riverside lunch. Finish the day with a downhill blast into Imi Oughlad.
Day 2: Imi Oughlad to Id Aissa – Tackle a steady zigzag ascent up a dirt road with fantastic views of the Maizane Valley. Cross the Tachet pass (2000m+) and drop into the atmospheric Azzaden Valley, navigating past rugged hillside villages to our high-altitude guesthouse.
Day 3: Azzaden Valley to Ouirgane – Explore the ever-changing Moroccan landscape as we wind through the picturesque Azzaden Valley. Reach the small village of Tinzert for panoramic views before descending into the idyllic, rustic Berber town of Ouirgane.
Day 4: Ouirgane to Amizmiz & Return – Ride through ancient olive groves and over the Tizi Ouzla pass. Savour some of the region’s best flowing singletrack through rural fields and villages toward the Amizmiz Dam before our transfer back to Marrakech.
