Road cycling tour Atlas Mountains
Overview
Escape the city and conquer the legendary asphalt of the High Atlas Mountains on this intensive 2-day road cycling tour. Starting from the 1,000-year-old Medina of Marrakech, you will trade the flat Haouz plains for the dramatic, winding slopes of Morocco’s highest roads.
This tour is designed for riders who love climbing. You will navigate the lush Ourika Valley, summit the Tizi n’Tadmamt (1813m), and glide across the spectacular limestone Kik Plateau with the snow-capped Toubkal peaks as your backdrop. Experience a perfect mix of technical descents, traditional Berber architecture, and the smooth, open roads of the Atlas.
The Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech to Asni via Ourika – Cycle the banks of the Ourika River before the steady 14km climb to Tizi n’Tadmamt (1813m). End the day with a thrilling 10km descent into the mountain village of Asni. Overnight in a traditional mountain lodge.
Day 2: Kik Plateau to Marrakech – Conquer the snaking roads to the shrine of Moulay Brahim. Cross the high limestone Kik Plateau with panoramic views of Mount Toubkal, followed by a long descent to Takerkoust Lake and a transfer back to the Marrakech Medina.
